The European Bone and Joint Infection Society (EBJIS) and the Musculoskeletal Infection Society (MSIS) are proud to announce the first-ever Joint EBJIS–MSIS Conference, to be held in the historic city of Porto, Portugal, on 17–19 September 2026.

The 2026 Joint Conference will bring together leading clinicians, scientists, and innovators from around the world to strengthen international collaboration in the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal infection.

The conference will serve as a high-level platform for debate, discovery, and consensus building. Through dynamic "Europe vs North America" sessions, the programme will explore key differences in clinical approaches and outcomes.

Key programme highlights will include:

  • DAIR and staged revision strategies
  • Antibiotic use and resistance
  • Plastic surgery in fracture-related infection
  • Prevention and preoperative assessment
  • Outcome metrics and classification frameworks
  • Spinal and shoulder infection management

The joint meeting represents a significant milestone for both societies, reinforcing their shared vision of advancing international collaboration and improving outcomes for patients affected by bone and joint infections. The partnership will foster valuable exchange of knowledge and strengthen collaboration across the Atlantic.

In addition to the joint conference, a pre-course on Prosthetic Joint Infection Management will take place on 16 September 2026 at the conference venue. The course will feature lectures by international experts combined with interactive small-group discussions.

Abstract submission for the conference opens in December 2025, and further details will be available at: https://ebjis.org/ebjis-msis2026/
